✧ God, Mighty and Majestic, made this land sacred on the day He created the heavens and the earth, and He fashioned it when He fashioned the sun and the moon, and what lies before it from the sky is sacred. It was not lawful for anyone before me, and it was made lawful for me for an hour of a day, then it returned as it was. It was said to him: "This is Khālid b. al-Walīd killing." He said to him: "Arise, O so-and-so, go to Khālid b. al-Walīd and tell him to lift his hand from killing." So the man went to him and said to him: "The Prophet ﷺ says: 'Kill whom you have power over.'" So he killed seventy persons. Then he came to the Prophet ﷺ and mentioned that to him. He sent to Khālid b. al-Walīd: "Did I not forbid you from killing?" He said: "So-and-so came to me and commanded me to kill whom I had power over." So he sent to him: "Did I not command you to command Khālid not to kill anyone?" He said: "You intended a matter, and God intended a matter, and God's matter was above your matter, and I could only do what was." So the Prophet of God ﷺ fell silent and did not respond to him at all.
