✧ You will raise armies. A man said: O Messenger of God, choose for me. He said: "Upon you is Syria, for it is the choice of God from His lands; in it are His chosen from His servants. Whoever turns away from that, let him join his Yemen and water from its pools, for God has guaranteed me Syria and its people."

  • Aḥmad ibn Shuʿayb al-Nasāʾī

machine translationNāfiʿ narrated it from Ibn ʿUmar, and Sālim and Nāfiʿ differed concerning it from Ibn ʿUmar. Sālim said: from his father, from the Prophet ﷺ. Nāfiʿ said: from Ibn ʿUmar, from Kaʿb, as his own saying. Sālim is of higher standing than Nāfiʿ, yet the narration of Nāfiʿ is more likely to be correct.
