machine translationIsmāʿīl b. Muslim al-Makkī, Abū Rabīʿah, is weak (ḍaʿīf). Ibn al-Mubārak declared him weak, and Yaḥyā and ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Mahdī abandoned him (tarakahu). He narrated from al-Zuhrī, from ʿAbdullāh b. Kaʿb b. Mālik, from his father, as a raised report (marfūʿ), and he mentioned it. He said: Rather, it is from al-Zuhrī, who said: The Companions of the Messenger of God ﷺ used to say: When the fetus has grown hair, its slaughter is the slaughter of its mother. Thus said Ibn ʿUyaynah and others of the trustworthy narrators. This is not Ismāʿīl b. Muslim al-Baṣrī al-ʿAbdī, the associate of al-Mutawakkil; that one is trustworthy (thiqah).

    in المعجم الأوسط, p. 3716
