✧ He asked Makḥūl about the fear prayer. He said: ʿAbd Allāh b. ʿUmar used to relate that he prayed it with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said the takbīr, and a group of us formed a row behind him while another group faced the enemy. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ led them in one rakʿah and two prostrations, like half of the dawn prayer. Then they departed and faced the enemy. The other group came and prayed with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he did the same. Then he said the salām, and every man from the two groups stood and prayed a rakʿah and two prostrations for himself.
