حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْقَطَّانُ الْمِصْرِيُّ قَالَ: نَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ قَالَ: نَا أَبُو غَسَّانَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُطَرِّفٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي زَيْدُ بْنُ أَسْلَمَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ قَالَ:
قَدِمَ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ سَبْيٌ، فَإِذَا امْرَأَةٌ مِنَ السَّبْيِ تَسْعَى، إِذْ وَجَدَتْ صَبِيًّا فِي السَّبْيِ، فَأَخَذَتْهُ فَأَلْصَقَتْهُ بِبَطْنِهَا وَأَرْضَعَتْهُ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: أَتَرَوْنَ هَذِهِ طَارِحَةً وَلَدَهَا فِي النَّارِ ؟ " قُلْنَا: لَا، وَاللهِ، وَهِيَ تَقْدِرُ عَلَى أَنْ لَا تَطْرَحَهُ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: " اللهُ أَرْحَمُ بِعِبَادِهِ مِنْ هَذِهِ الْمَرْأَةِ بِوَلَدِهَا

✧ Captives were brought to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and there was a woman among the captives searching. When she found a child among the captives, she took him, pressed him to her belly, and suckled him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Do you think this woman would throw her child into the Fire?' We said: 'No, by Allah, while she is able not to throw him.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Allah is more merciful to His servants than this woman is to her child.'
