حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ قَالَ: نَا الصَّلْتُ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ الْجَحْدَرِيُّ قَالَ: نَا عُقْبَةُ بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ الشَّيْبَانِيُّ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ الشَّيْبَانِيُّ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ بَشِيرِ بْنِ الْخَصَاصِيَّةِ قَالَ:

أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَلَحِقْتُهُ بِالْبَقِيعِ فَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ: السَّلَامُ عَلَى أَهْلِ الدِّيَارِ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ، فَانْقَطَعَ شِسْعِي، فَقَالَ لِي: " أَنْعِشْ قَدَمَكَ ؟ "، قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، طَالَتْ عُزُوبَتِي، وَنَأَيْتُ عَنْ دَارِ قَوْمِي، فَقَالَ: " يَا بَشِيرُ، أَلَا تَحْمَدِ اللهَ الَّذِي أَخَذَ بِنَاصِيَتِكَ لِلْإِسْلَامِ مِنْ بَيْنِ رَبِيعَةَ، قَوْمٌ يَرَوْنَ أَنْ لَوْلَاهُمْ لَائْتَفَكَتِ الْأَرْضُ بِمَنْ عَلَيْهَا

✧ I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and caught up with him at al-Baqi'. I heard him say: "Peace be upon the people of the dwellings, the believers." Then my sandal strap broke, and he said to me: "Raise your foot?" I said: "O Messenger of Allah, my bachelorhood has grown long, and I am far from the abode of my people." He said: "O Bashir, will you not praise Allah who took you by the forelock to Islam from among Rabi'ah: a people who think that were it not for them, the earth would have overturned with all upon it?"
