✧ We arrived in Madinah when a man from Banū Ghifār called Sibāʿ b. ʿUrfuṭah had been appointed as deputy over Madinah. We prayed the morning prayer with him, and in the first rakʿah he recited Sūrah Maryam, and in the other “Woe to the defrauders.” Among us was a man who defrauded, so when we finished the prayer we said: “Woe to so-and-so.” Then we went to him and caught up with the Messenger of God ﷺ after he had conquered Khaybar. He asked the people’s permission to allocate for us from the spoils, and they permitted him, so he allocated for us.
