حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُسْلِمٍ قَالَ: نَا الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ يَحْيَى قَالَ: نَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ وَاقِدٍ الْخُرَاسَانِيُّ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ: قَالَ الْبَرَاءُ بْنُ عَازِبٍ:
بَيْنَمَا نَحْنُ نَمْشِي مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ إِذْ أَبْصَرَ جَمَاعَةً مِنَ النَّاسِ، فَقَالَ: عَلَامَ اجْتَمَعَ هَؤُلَاءِ ؟ قِيلَ: عَلَى قَبْرٍ يَحْفِرُونَهُ، قَالَ: فَفَزِعَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَبَدَرَ بَيْنَ أَصْحَابِهِ مُسْرِعًا حَتَّى انْتَهَى إِلَى الْقَبْرِ، فَحَثَى عَلَيْهِ، وَاسْتَقْبَلَ مِنْ بَيْنِ يَدَيْهِ، فَبَكَى ﷺ حَتَّى بَلَّ الثَّرَى مِنْ دُمُوعِهِ، ثُمَّ أَقْبَلَ عَلَيْنَا، فَقَالَ: " إِخْوَانِي، لِمِثْلِ هَذَا الْيَوْمِ فَأَعِدُّوا

✧ "While we were walking with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, he saw a group of people and said: 'Why have these people gathered?' It was said: 'They are digging a grave.' He said: The Prophet ﷺ was startled and hurried ahead of his companions until he reached the grave. He threw dust onto it and faced it, then he wept ﷺ until the soil was wet from his tears. Then he turned to us and said: 'My brothers, for a day like this, so prepare.'"
