حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُسْلِمٍ قَالَ: نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الْعَنَزِيُّ قَالَ: نَا أَبُو غَاضِرَةَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الْعَنَزِيُّ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي عَمِّي غَضْبَانُ بْنُ حَنْظَلَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ حَنْظَلَةَ بْنِ نُعَيْمٍ الْعَنَزِيِّ، قَالَ:
كُنْتُ فِيمَنْ وَفَدَ عَلَى عُمَرَ، فَجَعَلَ يَسْأَلُ رَجُلًا رَجُلًا: مِمَّنْ أَنْتَ ؟ وَمَنْ أَنْتَ ؟ حَتَّى انْتَهَى إِلَيَّ، فَقَالَ: مِمَّنْ أَنْتَ ؟ وَمَنْ أَنْتَ ؟ فَقُلْتُ: أَنَا حَنْظَلَةُ، مِنْ عَنَزَةَ، فَأَوْمَأَ نَحْوَ الْمَشْرِقِ، وَفَرَّجَ أَصَابِعَهُ، وَقَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ: عَنَزَةُ حَيٌّ مِنْ هَاهُنَا، مَبْغِيٌّ عَلَيْهِمْ، مَنْصُورُونَ

✧ I was among those who went to Umar as part of a delegation. He began asking each man, one by one: "What tribe are you from? Who are you?" When he reached me, he said: "What tribe are you from? Who are you?" I said: "I am Hanzala, from Anaza." He gestured toward the east, spread his fingers, and said: "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: 'Anaza is a tribe from here, oppressed yet victorious.'"
