✧ We were with the Prophet ﷺ when a funeral was brought, and the people praised it with good, so the Prophet ﷺ said, 'It is assured.' Then another was brought, and it seemed the people spoke ill of him, so the Prophet ﷺ said, 'It is assured.' The companions of the Prophet ﷺ said, 'So-and-so was brought and he said, "It is assured." Then so-and-so was brought and he said, "It is assured."' The Prophet ﷺ heard them and said, 'What is this?' ʿUmar said, 'May my father and mother be your ransom. So-and-so was brought and the people praised him greatly, and you said, "It is assured." Then so-and-so was brought and the people spoke ill of him, and you said, "It is assured."' He said, 'Your brother was brought and you testified as you testified, so your testimony became assured. Then your brother so-and-so was brought and you testified as you testified, so your testimony became assured. You are Allah's witnesses on earth, some of you over others.'
