حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُسْلِمٍ، قَالَ: نَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ، قَالَ: نَا كَهْمَسُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ، عَنْ أَبِي نَضْرَةَ قَالَ:

قُلْتُ لِأَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ: أَكْتِبْنَا قَالَ: " لِمَ نُكْتِبُكُمْ ؟ وَلَنْ نَجْعَلَهُ قُرْآنًا، وَلَكِنْ خُذُوا عَنَّا كَمَا كُنَّا نَأْخُذُ عَنْ نَبِيِّ اللهِ، ﷺ "، وَكَانَ أَبُو سَعِيدٍ يَقُولُ: تَحَدَّثُوا، فَإِنَّ الْحَدِيثَ يُذَكِّرُ بَعْضُهُ بَعْضًا

Translation

✧ I said to Abu Sa'id al-Khudri: 'Write down (hadiths) for us.' He said: 'We will not write for you, nor will we make it a Quran. But take from us as we used to take from the Prophet of God ﷺ.' And Abu Sa'id used to say: 'Narrate (hadiths) to one another, for one hadith reminds of another.'
