حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُوسَى الشَّامِيُّ الْبَصْرِيُّ، قَالَ: نَا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ: نَا حُمَيْدُ بْنُ مِهْرَانَ الْكِنْدِيُّ قَالَ: نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سِيرِينَ، عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حِطَّانَ، أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ:

مَا تُسَمُّونَ الَّذِينَ يَدْخُلُونَ فِيكُمْ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْقُرَى، لَيْسَ لَهُمْ فِيكُمْ نَسَبٌ وَلَا قَرَابَةٌ ؟ قُلْتُ: نُسَمِّيهِمُ: الْعُلُوجَ وَالسِّقَاطَ. فَقَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ: " كُنَّا نُسَمِّيهِمُ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ

✧ What do you call those from the people of the villages who enter among you and have no lineage or kinship with you? I said: 'We call them 'ulūj and siqāṭ.' Aisha said: 'We used to call them Muhājirūn in the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.'
