حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سَهْلِ بْنِ الْوَلِيدِ السُّكَّرِيُّ الْأَهْوَازِيُّ، قَالَ: نَا خَالِدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ السَّمْتِيُّ قَالَ: نَا أَبِي، عَنْ زِيَادِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ سُمَيٍّ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ سُئِلَ عَنِ اللُّقَطَةِ ؟ قَالَ: لَا تَحِلُّ اللُّقَطَةُ، مَنِ الْتَقَطَ شَيْئًا فَلْيُعَرِّفْهُ، فَإِنْ جَاءَ صَاحِبُهَا فَلْيَرُدَّهَا إِلَيْهِ، وَإِنْ لَمْ يَأْتِ فَلْيَتَصَدَّقْ بِهَا، فَإِذَا جَاءَ فَلْيُخَيِّرْهُ بَيْنَ الْأَجْرِ، وَبَيْنَ الَّذِي لَهُ

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ was asked about lost property. He said: 'Lost property is not permissible [to appropriate]. Whoever finds something should announce it. If its owner comes, he should return it to him. If he does not come, he should give it in charity. Then if [the owner] comes, he should let him choose between the reward [of charity] and what belongs to him.'
