حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ أَيُّوبَ الْمَدِينِيُّ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ، قَالَ: نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ شَقِيقٍ قَالَ: نَا أَبِي قَالَ: نَا أَبُو حَمْزَةَ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ عَابِسِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ قَالَ:

رَأَيْتُ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ ؓ، اسْتَقْبَلَ الْحَجَرَ، فَقَبَّلَهُ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: " أَمَا وَاللهِ، إِنِّي لَأَعْلَمُ أَنَّكَ حَجَرٌ لَا تَمْلِكُ لِي ضَرًّا وَلَا نَفْعًا، وَلَوْلَا أَنِّي رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يُقَبِّلُكَ مَا قَبَّلْتُكَ

✧ I saw Umar b. al-Khattab ؓ face the Stone, kiss it, and then say: 'By Allah, I know that you are a stone that can neither harm nor benefit me, and had I not seen the Messenger of Allah ﷺ kissing you, I would not have kissed you.'
