حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ نَافِعٍ، قَالَ: نَا أَبُو الطَّاهِرِ بْنُ السَّرْحِ قَالَ: نَا خَالِدُ بْنُ نِزَارٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ قَيْسٍ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ. أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عَبَّاسٍ أَخْبَرَهُ
أَنَّهُ كَانَ يُقْرِئُ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ عَوْفٍ، فَذَكَرَ حَدِيثَ السَّقِيفَةِ بِطُولِهِ، وَذَكَرَ فِيهِ: أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ: لَا تُطْرُونِي كَمَا أَطْرَتِ النَّصَارَى عِيسَى، فَإِنَّمَا أَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ وَرَسُولُهُ، فَقُولُوا: عَبْدُ اللهِ وَرَسُولُهُ، وَقَالَ: " رَجَمَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ، وَرَجَمْنَا مَعَهُ

✧ He used to teach 'Abd al-Rahman b. 'Awf to read, and he mentioned the lengthy hadith of the Saqifah, and in it he mentioned that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Do not exaggerate in praising me as the Christians exaggerated in praising 'Isa; I am only Allah's servant and His Messenger, so say: Allah's servant and His Messenger. And he said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stoned, and we stoned with him.
