حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ، قَالَ: نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُؤَمَّلِ قَالَ: نَا بَكْرُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ زَبَّانَ قَالَ: نَا مِنْدَلُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ عَنْ عَاصِمٍ الْأَحْوَلِ عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ النَّهْدِيِّ. عَنْ سَلْمَانَ الْفَارِسِيِّ قَالَ:

أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ بِالزَّكَاةِ ثَلَاثَ مِرَارٍ. وَقَالَ: مَا تَعُدُّونَ الشَّهِيدَ فِيكُمْ ؟ " قَالُوا: الَّذِي يُقْتَلُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ. قَالَ: " إِنَّ شُهَدَاءَ أُمَّتِي إِذًا لَقَلِيلٌ، الْقَتْلُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ شَهَادَةٌ، وَالطَّاعُونُ شَهَادَةٌ، وَالنُّفَسَاءُ شَهَادَةٌ، وَالْحَرَقُ شَهَادَةٌ، وَالْغَرَقُ شَهَادَةٌ، وَالسُّلُّ شَهَادَةٌ، وَالْبَطْنُ شَهَادَةٌ

✧ I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with the zakah three times. And he said: “Whom do you count as a martyr among you?” They said: “The one who is killed in the path of Allah.” He said: “Then the martyrs of my ummah would be few. Being killed in the path of Allah is martyrdom, the plague is martyrdom, death in childbirth is martyrdom, burning is martyrdom, drowning is martyrdom, tuberculosis is martyrdom, and a stomach ailment is martyrdom.”
