حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ صَدَقَةَ، قَالَ: نَا يَحْيَى بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ السَّكَنِ قَالَ: نَا مَحْبُوبُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ قَالَ: نَا مَيْمُونُ بْنُ عَجْلَانَ الثَّقَفِيُّ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبَّادٍ الْمَخْزُومِيِّ. عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ:

إِنَّ الْعَبْدَ يَلْتَمِسُ مَرْضَاةَ اللهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ، فَلَا يَزَالُ كَذَلِكَ. فَيَقُولُ اللهُ: يَا جِبْرِيلُ، إِنَّ عَبْدِي فُلَانًا يَلْتَمِسُ أَنْ يُرْضِيَنِي، فَرِضَائِي عَلَيْهِ ". قَالَ: " فَيَقُولُ جِبْرِيلُ ﷺ: رَحْمَةُ اللهِ عَلَى فُلَانٍ، وَتَقُولُ حَمَلَةُ الْعَرْشِ، وَيَقُولُ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ، حَتَّى يَقُولَهُ أَهْلُ السَّمَاوَاتِ السَّبْعِ، ثُمَّ يَهْبِطُ إِلَى الْأَرْضِ ". فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: " وَهِيَ الْآيَةُ الَّتِي أَنْزَلَ اللهُ عَلَيْكُمْ فِي كِتَابِهِ: إِنَّ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ سَيَجْعَلُ لَهُمُ الرَّحْمَنُ وُدًّا وَإِنَّ الْعَبْدَ لَيَلْتَمِسُ سَخَطَ اللهِ، فَيَقُولُ اللهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: يَا جِبْرِيلُ، إِنَّ فُلَانًا يُسْخِطُنِي أَلَا وَإِنَّ غَضَبِي عَلَيْهِ، فَيَقُولُ جِبْرِيلُ: غَضِبَ اللهُ عَلَى فُلَانٍ، وَيَقُولُ حَمَلَةُ الْعَرْشِ، وَيَقُولُ مَنْ دُونَهُمْ، حَتَّى يَقُولَهُ أَهْلُ السَّمَاوَاتِ السَّبْعِ، ثُمَّ يَهْبِطُ إِلَى الْأَرْضِ

✧ A servant keeps seeking the pleasure of Allah, Mighty and Majestic, and so he remains in that state. Then Allah says: “O Jibril, My servant so-and-so is seeking to please Me, so My pleasure is upon him.” He said: “Then Jibril ﷺ says: ‘May the mercy of Allah be upon so-and-so,’ and the bearers of the Throne say it, and those around them say it, until the inhabitants of the seven heavens say it, and then it descends to the earth.” Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “This is the verse that Allah sent down to you in His Book: ‘Indeed, those who have believed and done righteous deeds – the Most Merciful will appoint for them affection.’ And a servant keeps seeking the displeasure of Allah, then Allah, Mighty and Majestic, says: ‘O Jibril, so-and-so is angering Me, indeed My anger is upon him.’ Then Jibril says: ‘May the anger of Allah be upon so-and-so,’ and the bearers of the Throne say it, and those below them say it, until the inhabitants of the seven heavens say it, and then it descends to the earth.”
