حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ خَالِدِ بْنِ حَيَّانَ قَالَ: نَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ قَالَ: نَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ قَالَ: نَا الْأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ. عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، أَنَّهُ

كَانَ " يَرَى الِاسْتِثْنَاءَ وَلَوْ بَعْدَ سَنَةٍ، ثُمَّ قَرَأَ: وَلا تَقُولَنَّ لِشَيْءٍ إِنِّي فَاعِلٌ ذَلِكَ غَدًا إِلا أَنْ يَشَاءَ اللهُ وَاذْكُرْ رَبَّكَ إِذَا نَسِيتَ يَقُولُ: إِذَا ذَكَرْتَ،

Translation

✧ He used to consider the exception (istithnāʾ) even after a year, then he recited: “And do not say of anything, ‘I will do that tomorrow,’ except [you add] ‘If God wills.’ And remember your Lord when you forget” (Q 18:23–24). He said: “When you remember.”
