حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ خَالِدِ بْنِ حَيَّانَ قَالَ: نَا الْقَاسِمُ بْنُ عُمَرَ أَبُو سَلَمَةَ الْبَصْرِيُّ قَالَ: نَا بِشْرُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ، عَنِ الْأَوْزَاعِيِّ، عَنْ مَكْحُولٍ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ. عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ: حَدَّثَنِي مُعَاذُ بْنُ جَبَلٍ

أَنَّهُ شَهِدَ إِمْلَاكَ رَجُلٍ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَخَطَبَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَأَنْكَحَ الْأَنْصَارِيَّ، وَقَالَ: عَلَى الْأُلْفَةِ وَالْخَيْرِ وَالطَّيْرِ الْمَيْمُونِ، دَفِّفُوا عَلَى رَأْسِ صَاحِبِكُمْ ". فَدَفَّفُوا عَلَى رَأْسِهِ، وَأَقْبَلَتِ السِّلَالُ فِيهَا الْفَاكِهَةُ وَالسُّكَّرُ، فَنُثِرَ عَلَيْهِمْ، فَأَمْسَكَ الْقَوْمُ فَلَمْ يَنْتَهِبُوا، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: " مَا أَزْيَنَ الْحِلْمَ، أَلَا تَنْتَهِبُونَ ؟ " فَقَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنَّكَ نَهَيْتَنَا عَنِ النُّهْبَةِ يَوْمَ كَذَا وَكَذَا. فَقَالَ: " إِنَّمَا نَهَيْتُكُمْ عَنْ نُهْبَةِ الْعَسَاكِرِ، وَلَمْ أَنْهَكُمْ عَنْ نُهْبَةِ الْوَلَائِمِ أَلَا فَانْتَهِبُوا ". قَالَ مُعَاذُ بْنُ جَبَلٍ: فَوَاللهِ لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يُحَبِّذُنَا وَنُحَبِّذُهُ إِلَى ذَلِكَ النَّهْبِ

✧ He witnessed the marriage contract of a man from the Anṣār with the Messenger of God ﷺ. The Messenger of God ﷺ delivered a sermon and gave the Anṣārī woman in marriage, and said: “Upon harmony, good, and auspicious omen; sprinkle (daffifū) on your companion’s head.” So they sprinkled on his head, and baskets with fruit and sugar came, and were scattered over them. The people held back and did not snatch. The Messenger of God ﷺ said: “How beautiful is forbearance! Will you not snatch?” They said: “O Messenger of God, you forbade us from snatching on such-and-such a day.” He said: “I only forbade you from snatching in the armies, and I did not forbid you from snatching at wedding feasts. So snatch.” Muʿādh b. Jabal said: “By God, I saw the Messenger of God ﷺ urging us and we urging him to that snatching.”
