✧ There will be discord at the death of a caliph. A man from Banu Hashim will come out and go to Makkah. The people will bring him out from his house against his will and pledge allegiance to him between the Rukn and the Maqam. An army will be equipped and sent against him from Syria, and when they reach al-Bayda', they will be swallowed up by the earth. Then the bands of Iraq and the abdal of Syria will come to him. A man will arise in Syria whose maternal uncles are from Kalb; an army will be equipped and sent against him, and Allah will defeat them. The rout will be upon them: that is the Day of Kalb. The loser is he who loses out on the spoils of Kalb. He will open the treasures, distribute the wealth, and Islam will lay its neck upon the earth. He will live by that for seven years—or he said: nine years.
