✧ We went on a military expedition with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He came to a pool of water, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ dismounted and we dismounted. The time for prayer came, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: O Bilal, stand and give the call to prayer. Bilal went and relieved himself, then came to the pool and washed his face and hands, and reached for his leather socks, and he was wearing two black leather socks, and that was before the eyes of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ called to him: O Bilal, wipe over the leather socks and the head covering.
