He said: We were in the cemetery, and with us was Abū Ḥāḍir al-Asadī. A man among the people said: I wish we had in this cemetery a palace containing enough food and clothing to suffice us until death. A man informed us, and Abū Ḥāḍir said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ missed one of his Companions and asked about him. It was said: He has gone off alone to one of these desolate places to worship. So he sent for him and he was brought, and he said: "What made you do what you did?" He said: O Messenger of Allah, I have grown old, my bones have grown thin, and my appointed time has drawn near, so I wished to be alone in worship of my Lord. He said: Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ called out at the top of his voice, and whenever he wished to teach the people a matter he would call it out among us: "Indeed, a single standing-place among the standing-places of the Muslims is better than a man's worship alone for sixty years." He called it out three times.
