Chain of narrators

machine translationAbū ʿAbdillāh al-Ḥāfiẓ informed us, saying: Abū Bakr b. Isḥāq narrated to us, Bishr b. Mūsā narrated to us, al-Ḥumaydī narrated to us, Sufyān narrated to us, al-Zuhrī narrated to us, from ʿUrwah, from ʿĀʾishah,

She said: A group of the polytheists asked permission to see the Prophet ﷺ, and they said: "Death be upon you (al-sāmu ʿalayka), O Abū al-Qāsim." He said: "And upon you." ʿĀʾishah said: "Rather, upon you be death and the curse." So the Messenger of God ﷺ said: "Enough, O ʿĀʾishah! Indeed God loves gentleness in all matters." She said: "Did you not hear what they said? They only said: 'Death be upon you.'" He said: "I said: 'And upon you.'" The two Shaykhs (al-Bukhārī and Muslim) narrated it in the Ṣaḥīḥ, from the hadith of Sufyān b. ʿUyaynah and others.
