the Prophet ﷺ on a camel of mine which I had tied at the mosque. I entered, and there was the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in two cloaks of his. I said: "Upon you be peace." He said: "'Upon you be peace' is the greeting of the dead." I said: "We are a people of the desert, and there is harshness in us; teach me from what Allah has taught you." He said: "Do not belittle any act of kindness, even if it is to pour from your bucket into the vessel of one seeking water, and even if it is to meet your brother with your face cheerful toward him." I think he said: "And do not revile anything." Abū Jurayy said: "By the One who took away the soul of Muḥammad ﷺ, I have not reviled anything after him, neither a camel nor a boy. And beware of letting your garment hang down, for it is from arrogance, and Allah does not love arrogance." And Abū Hurayrah narrated to me, he said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "While a man from those before you, wearing two cloaks of his, was strutting in them, he looked at his shoulders and became pleased with himself, so he was swallowed by the earth, and he will keep sinking in it until the Day of Resurrection."
