He said: ʿUmar (may God be pleased with him) called for a shirt of his and put it on. When it reached his collarbones, he said: "Praise be to God who has clothed me with that with which I beautify myself in my life and cover my nakedness." Then he said: "Do you know from whom I report that? I saw the Messenger of God ﷺ call for his garments and put them on. When they reached his collarbones, he said: 'Praise be to God who has clothed me with that with which I beautify myself in my life and cover my nakedness.' Then he said: 'There is no Muslim who puts on a new garment and says the like of what I said, then sets out for some of his clothes and clothes a Muslim brother of his with it, clothing him only for the sake of God, except that he will be in the protection of God, in the guarantee of God, and in the neighbourhood of God, so long as a single thread of it remains, alive and dead, alive and dead, alive and dead.'"
