أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحُسَيْنِ بْنُ بِشْرانَ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الصَّفَّارُ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ صَالِحِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْأَنْمَاطِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النُّعْمَانِ عَارِمُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ، حَدَّثَنَا الصَّعْقُ بْنُ حَزْنٍ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ عَاصِمٍ،
قَالَ: أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، مَا الْمَالُ الَّذِي لَا تَبِعَةَ فِيهِ لِضَيْفٍ، وَلَا غَيْرِهِ قَالَ: " نِعْمَ الْمَالُ الْأَرْبَعُونَ، وَالْكَثْرَةُ السِّتُّونَ، وَوَيْلٌ لِأَصْحَابِ الْمِئتينَ، إِلَّا مَنْ نَحَرَ السَّمِينَة، فَأَكَلَ وَأَطْعَمَ وَأَعْطَى الْكَرِيمَةَ " قَالَ: قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنَّهُ لَا يَحِلُّ بِالْوَادِي الَّذِي أَنَا فِيهِ مِنْ كَثْرَةِ نَعَمِي، قَالَ: " كَيْفَ تَصْنَعُ فِي الْمَنِيحَةِ؟ " قَالَ: قُلْتُ: إِنِّي لَأَمْنَحُ الْمِائَةَ، قَالَ: " كَيْفَ تَصْنَعُ بالطَّرُوقَةِ؟ " قَالَ: يَغْدُو النَّاسُ بِحِبالِهِمْ فَلَا يُوزَعُ عَنْهَا رَجُلٌ عَنْ حَمَلٍ يَخْطِمُهُ فَيُمْسِكُهُ مَا بَدَا لَهُ حَتَّى يَكُونَ هُوَ الَّذِي يَرُدُّهُ، قَالَ: " فَمَالُكَ أَحَبُّ إِلَيْكَ أَمْ مَالُ مَوَالِيكَ؟ " قال قُلْتُ: مَالِي، قَالَ: " فَإِنَّ لَكَ مِنْ مَالِكَ مَا أَكَلْتَ فَأَفْنَيْتَ، وَأَعْطَيتَ فَأَمْضَيْتَ، وَسَائِرُهُ لِمَوَالِيكَ " قَالَ: قُلْتُ: وَاللهِ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، لَئِنْ رَجَعْتُ إِلَيْهَا لَأُقِلَّنَّ عَدَّدَهَا قَالَ: فَلَمَّا حَضَرَتْهُ الْوَفَاةُ جَمَعَ بَيْتَهُ، فَقَالَ: خُذُوا عَنِّي، فَإِنَّكُمْ لَنْ تَأْخُذُوا عَنْ أَحَدٍ أَنْصَحَ لَكُمْ مِنِّي، لَا تَنُوحُوا عَلَيَّ، " فَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَنْهَى عَنِ النَّوْحِ "، وَإِيَّاكُمْ وَالْمَسْأَلَةَ، فَإِنَّها آخِرُ كَسْبِ الْمَرْءِ، وَسَوِّدُوا أَكْبَرَكُمْ لَا يَزَالُ لِأَبِيكُمْ فِيكُمْ خَلِيفَةً قِيلَ لِلصَّعْقِ: أَسَمِعْتَ مِنَ الْحَسَنِ؟ قَالَ: لَا، يُونُسُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، وقِيلَ لَهُ: أَسَمِعْتَهُ مِنْ يُونُسَ؟ قَالَ: لَا، حَدَّثَنِي الْقَاسِمُ بْنُ مُطَيَّبٍ، عَنْ يُونُسَ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ عَاصِمٍ

He said: "The best wealth is forty, and abundance is sixty, and woe to the owners of two hundred, except one who slaughters the fat animal, eats and feeds others, and gives away the choice one." He said: I said: "O Messenger of Allah, there is no room for it in the valley where I live because of the multitude of my livestock." He said: "What do you do with the loan-animal (manīḥah)?" He said: I said: "I lend out a hundred." He said: "What do you do with the ṭarūqah (the female camel ready for breeding)?" He said: The people come in the morning with their ropes, and no man is kept back from a young camel that he bridles and keeps for as long as he wishes, until he is the one who returns it. He said: "Is your wealth dearer to you, or the wealth of your heirs?" He said: I said: "My wealth." He said: "Your wealth is only what you eat and consume, and what you give and send forward; the rest belongs to your heirs." He said: I said: "By Allah, O Messenger of Allah, if I return to them, I will surely reduce their number." He said: When death approached him, he gathered his household and said: Take from me, for you will not take from anyone who is more sincere in advice to you than I am. Do not wail over me, "for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to forbid wailing." And beware of begging, for it is the last earning of a man. And make your eldest your leader; your father will not cease to have a successor among you. It was said to al-Ṣaʿq: Did you hear it from al-Ḥasan? He said: No, [it is] Yūnus b. ʿUbayd, from al-Ḥasan. And it was said to him: Did you hear it from Yūnus? He said: No, al-Qāsim b. Muṭayyab narrated it to me, from Yūnus, from al-Ḥasan, from Qays b. ʿĀṣim.
