أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ عَبْدَانَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ الصَّفَّارُ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ الْبَلْخِيُّ، وَجَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْقَاضِي، قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أَيُّوبَ سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، ح وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو سَعْدٍ الْمَالِينِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ بْنُ عَدِيٍّ الْحَافِظُ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو قُصَيٍّ إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي مَالِكٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ أَبِي رَبَاحٍ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ،
عَنْ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ: " يَا ابْنَ عَوْفٍ، إِنَّكَ مِنَ الْأَغْنِيَاءِ، وَلَنْ تَدْخُلَ الْجَنَّةَ إِلَّا زَحْفًا، فَأَقْرِضِ اللهَ يُطْلِقْ لَكَ قَدَمَيْكَ " قَالَ: وَمَا الَّذِي أُقْرِضُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ قَالَ: " تَتَبَرَّأُ مِمَّا أَمْسَيْتَ فِيهِ " قَالَ: أَمِنْ كُلُّهُ أَجْمَعَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ قَالَ: " نَعَمْ "، فَخَرَجَ ابْنُ عَوْفٍ وَهُوَ يَهُمُّ بِذَلِكَ، فَأَتَاهُ جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ فَقَالَ: مُرِ ابْنَ عَوْفٍ، وَفِي رِوَايَةِ الْمَالِينِيِّ: فَبَعَثَ إِلَيْهِ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ - فَقَالَ: " إِنَّ جِبْرِيلَ قَالَ: مُرِ ابْنَ عَوْفٍ فَلْيُضِفِ الضَّيْفَ، وَلْيُطْعِمِ الْمِسْكِينَ، وَلْيُعْطِ السَّائِلَ، وَليَبْدَأْ بِمَنْ يَعُولُ، وَإِنَّهُ إِذَا فَعَلَ ذَلِكَ كَانَ تَزْكِيَةَ مَا هُوَ فِيهِ "

From the Prophet ﷺ, who said: "O Ibn ʿAwf, you are among the wealthy, and you will not enter Paradise except crawling. So lend to Allah, and He will free your feet for you." He said: "And what should I lend, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "Free yourself of what you have come to have by evening." He said: "All of it, entirely, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "Yes." So Ibn ʿAwf went out intending to do that, and Jibrīl, peace be upon him, came to him and said: Command Ibn ʿAwf. And in the narration of al-Mālīnī: So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent for him and said: "Jibrīl said: Command Ibn ʿAwf to host the guest, to feed the poor person, to give to the one who asks, and to begin with those he supports. For if he does that, it will be a purification of what he has."
