أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ عَبْدَانَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ الضَّبِّيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا أبو رَجَاءٍ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي نُصَيْرٍ، عَنْ أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ،
قَالَ: صَلَّى بِنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الصُّبْحَ، ثُمَّ أَقْبَلَ عَلَيْنَا بِوَجْهِهِ، فَقَالَ: " أَشَاهِدٌ فُلَانٌ وَفُلَانٌ وَفُلَانٌ حَتَّى عَدَّ ثَلَاثَةً " كُلُّ ذَلِكَ يَقُولُونَ نَعَمْ، قَالَ: " إِنَّ أَثْقَلَ الصَّلَاةِ عَلَى الْمُنَافِقِينَ صَلَاةُ الْعِشَاءِ، وَصَلَاةُ الْفَجْرِ، وَلَوْ يَعْلَمُونَ مَا فِيهِمَا لأتَوْهُما وَلَوْ حَبْوًا وَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّ الصَّفَّ الْمُقَدَّمَ عَلَى مَثَلِ صَفِّ الْمَلَائِكَةِ، ولَوْ عَلِمْتُمْ فَضِيلَتَهُ لَابْتَدَرْتُمُوهُ، وَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّ صَلَاةَ الرَّجُلِ مَعَ الرَّجُلِ أَزْكَى مِنْ صَلَاةِ الرَّجُلِ وَحْدَهُ، وَإِنَّ صَلَاتَهُ مَعَ الرِّجْلَيْنِ أَزْكَى مِنْ صَلَاتِهِ مَعَ الرَّجُلِ، وَمَا كَثُرَ أَحَبُّ إِلَى اللهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ "

Each time they said, "Yes." He said: "The heaviest of the prayers upon the hypocrites are the ʿIshāʾ prayer and the Fajr prayer. If they knew what is in them, they would come to them even if crawling. And know that the front row is like the row of the angels, and if you knew its merit you would race to it. And know that a man's prayer with another man is purer than his prayer alone, and his prayer with two men is purer than his prayer with one man, and the more numerous they are, the more beloved to Allah, Mighty and Majestic."
