أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ عَبْدَانَ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، وَتَمْتَامٌ، قَالَا: أَخْبَرَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ مَعِينٍ، حَدَّثَنَا مَرْوَانُ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ الْفَزَارِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ كَيْسَانَ، عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ،
قَالَ: قِيلَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ادْعُ اللهَ عَلَى الْمُشْرِكِينَ، قَالَ: " إِنَّمَا بُعِثْتُ رَحْمَةً، وَلَمْ أُبْعَثْ عَذَابًا " وَهَذَا - وَاللهُ أَعْلَمُ - عَلَى أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَرْجُو إِسْلَامَهُمْ
