أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدِ بْنُ أَبِي عَمْرٍو، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ الْأَصَمُّ، حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ عَفَّانَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرُ بْنُ حَازِمٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ،
قَالَ: دَخَلَ شَابٌّ قَوِيٌّ الْمَسْجِدِ وَفِي يَدِهِ مَشَاقِصُ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ: مَنْ يُعِينُنِي فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ؟ قَالَ: فَدَعَا بِهِ عُمَرُ فَأُتِيَ بِهِ فَقَالَ: " مَنْ يَسْتَأْجِرُ مِنِّي هَذَا بِعَمَلٍ فِي أَرْضِهِ؟ "، فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ: أَنَا يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ، قَالَ: بِكَمْ تُؤْجِرُهُ كُلَّ شَهْرٍ؟ قَالَ: بِكَذَا وَكَذَا، قَالَ: خُذْهُ فَانْطَلِقْ بِهِ، فَعِمِلَ فِي أَرْضِ الرَّجُلِ أَشْهُرًا، ثُمَّ قَالَ عُمَرُ لِلرَّجُلِ: " مَا فَعَلَ أَجِيرُنَا؟ " قَالَ: صَالِحٌ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ، قَالَ: " ايْتِنِي بِهِ وَبِمَا اجْتَمَعَ لَهُ مِنَ الْأَجْرِ "، فَجَاءَ بِهِ وَبِصُرَّةٍ مِنْ دَرَاهِمَ، فَقَالَ: " خُذْ هَذِهِ فَإِنْ شِئْتَ الْآنَ فَاغْزُ، وَإِنْ شِئْتَ فَاجْلِسْ "
