He said: I asked my maternal uncle, Hind b. Abi Halah, who was skilled at describing people, about the appearance of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, for I wished him to describe something of it to which I could hold fast. He said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was imposing and greatly honored. His face shone with the radiance of the moon on the night it is full. He was taller than a man of medium height but shorter than one who was excessively tall. He had a large head and slightly wavy hair. If his locks parted naturally, he would part them; otherwise, when he let his hair grow, it did not extend beyond his earlobes. His complexion was luminous, his forehead broad, and his eyebrows long, arched, and full without meeting. Between them was a vein that swelled when he became angry. He had a long, finely arched nose with a light upon it, such that someone who did not examine him closely might think it prominently raised. His beard was thick, his cheeks smooth, his mouth wide, his teeth slightly spaced, and the line of hair running down his chest was fine. His neck was like the neck of a statue in the clarity of silver. His build was well proportioned, full-bodied, and firm. His abdomen and chest were even, his chest was broad, the distance between his shoulders was wide, his joints were large, and the parts of his body exposed by his clothing were radiant. A line of hair extended from the upper chest to the navel, while his breasts and abdomen were otherwise bare. His forearms, shoulders, and upper chest were hairy. His forearms were long, his palms broad, and his hands and feet sturdy. His fingers and toes were long—or the narrator said raised. The arches of his feet were high, and his feet were smooth, so water ran off them. When he moved, he moved with strength, stepping with a forward inclination and walking calmly. His stride was brisk; when he walked, it was as though he were descending a slope. When he turned, he turned with his whole body. He kept his gaze lowered, looking at the ground longer than he looked at the sky, and most of his looking was by brief glances. He walked behind his Companions and was the first to greet whomever he met with salam.
