Supplications of Eating

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ثَوْرُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ عَنْ خَالِدُ بْنُ مَعْدَانَ عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ قَالَ

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا رُفِعَتِ الْمَائِدَةُ مِنْ بَيْنِ يَدَيْهِ يَقُولُ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ حَمْدًا كَثِيرًا طَيِّبًا مُبَارَكًا فِيهِ غَيْرَ مُودَعٍ وَلا مُسْتَغْنًى عَنْهُ رَبَّنَا

Translation

Chain of narrators
  1. Muḥammad b. Bashhār
  2. Yaḥyá b. Saʿīd
  3. Thawr b. Yazīd
  4. Khālid b. Maʿdān
  5. Abū Umāmah

“When the table was removed from in front of him, Allah’s Messenger ﷺ used to say: ‘Much fine blessed praise to Allah! It is neither the last of our food, nor can it be dispensed with, O our Lord'!”
