The Virtue Of Charity Given On Behalf Of The Deceased

أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ قَالَ أَنْبَأَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ عَنِ الْعَلاَءِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ

أَنَّ رَجُلاً قَالَ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ إِنَّ أَبِي مَاتَ وَتَرَكَ مَالاً وَلَمْ يُوصِ فَهَلْ يُكَفِّرُ عَنْهُ أَنْ أَتَصَدَّقَ عَنْهُ قَالَ نَعَمْ

Translation

Chain of narrators

  3. al-ʿAlāʾ
  4. his father
  5. Abū Hurayrah

"My father died and left behind wealth, but he did not leave a will. Will it expiate for him if I give charity on his behalf?"
