machine translationThe narration of Ḥajjāj is more authentic (aṣaḥḥ).
in سنن النسائي, p. 3106 - Ibn Ḥajar al-ʿAsqalānī
machine translationThe correct form is: from Muḥammad b. Ṭalḥah, from Muʿāwiyah b. Jāhimah, from his father. It was misread (taṣḥīf): "from" became "b." (ibn), and his words "from his father" were moved forward. As a result it appeared that Ṭalḥah had companionship (ṣuḥbah) with the Prophet, but that is not so; indeed there is no blood relation between him and Muʿāwiyah b. Jāhimah. Had the matter been as the apparent chain suggests, these four in succession would all have been Companions of the Prophet ﷺ: Ṭalḥah, Muʿāwiyah, Jāhimah, and al-ʿAbbās b. Mirdās.

machine translationI think it is mursal.

machine translationThe statement of Ibn Jurayj is closer to the correct view.
