What scholars said about it
In their own words, as Hadith Unlocked records them. They are shown, not summarised into a grade.
machine translationAl-Muʿāfā b. ʿImrān was alone in narrating it from him, that is, from Aflaḥ b. Ḥumayd.
in سنن النسائي, p. 2654 - Aḥmad b. Ḥanbal
machine translationHe used to reject this hadith as narrated by Aflaḥ b. Ḥumayd. Ibn ʿAdī said: Aḥmad's rejection of Aflaḥ in this hadith concerned his words "and for the people of Iraq, Dhāt ʿIrq"; he did not reject anything of the rest of its chain or its text.
machine translationIn it is Aflaḥ b. Abān, and in my view he is acceptable (ṣāliḥ), and I hope that all his hadiths are sound. This hadith is one that Muʿāfā was alone in narrating from him.
in سنن النسائي, p. 2654 - Ibn Ḥajar al-ʿAsqalānī
machine translationThis indicates that the hadith has a basis. Perhaps whoever said that it is not explicitly stated did not come across it, or he considered the hadith weak on the grounds that each of its routes is not free of criticism.
