✧ Avoiding Confrontation with What One Dislikes

أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ عَنْ سَلْمٍ الْعَلَوِيِّ عَنْ أَنَسٍ

أَنَّ رَجُلًا دَخَلَ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَمَعَهُ أَصْحَابُهُ وَعَلَيْهِ أَثَرُ صُفْرَةٍ فَلَمَّا قَامَ قَالَ لِرَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ «لَوْ أَمَرْتُمْ هَذَا أَنْ يَدَعَ هَذَا» قَالَ وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَا يُوَاجِهُ أَحَدًا فِي وَجْهِهِ بِشَيْءٍ

Translation

✧ A man entered upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he had his companions with him, and there were traces of yellow perfume on him. When he stood up, he said to one of his companions: "If only you would order this man to leave this." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ would not confront anyone with something in his face.
