أَخْبَرَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي اللَّيْثُ عَنِ الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ كَثِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْمِسْوَرِ بْنِ مَخْرَمَةَ عَنْ أَبَانَ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ مَنْ قَالَ

حِينَ يُمْسِي سُبْحَانَ اللهِ الْعَظِيمِ وَبِحَمْدِهِ لَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللهِ لَمْ يَضُرَّهُ شَيْءٌ حَتَّى يُصْبِحَ وَإنْ قَالَ حِينَ يُصْبِحُ لَمْ يَضُرَّهُ شَيْءٌ حَتَّى يُمْسِيَ فَأَصَابَ أَبَانًا الْفَالِجُ فَجِئْتُهُ فِيمَنْ جَاءَهُ مِنَ النَّاسِ فَجَعَلَ النَّاسُ يُعَزُّونَهُ وَيَخْرُجُونَ وَأَنَا جَالِسٌ فَلَمَّا خَفَّ مَنْ عِنْدَهُ قَالَ لِي قَدْ عَلِمْتُ مَا أَجْلَسَكَ أَمَا إِنَّ الَّذِي حَدَّثْتُكَ حَقٌّ وَلَكِنِّي أُنْسِيتُ ذَلِكَ تَابَعَهُ الزُّهْرِيُّ عَلَى رِوَايَتِهِ فَوَقَفَهُ

✧ When he reaches evening: 'Glory be to Allah the Magnificent and praise be to Him, there is no power and no strength except with Allah,' nothing would harm him until morning. And if he says it when morning comes, nothing would harm him until evening. Then Aban was afflicted with hemiplegia. I came to him among the people who came to him, and the people began consoling him and leaving while I remained seated. When those with him had dispersed, he said to me, 'I know what has kept you seated. Verily, what I narrated to you is true, but I forgot that.' Az-Zuhri concurred with his narration but stopped it [at the companion].
