✧ The Disagreement Regarding Abu Ishaq

أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الصَّمَدِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ عَنْ عُبَيْدَةَ الْهُجَيْمِيِّ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سُلَيْمٍ الْهُجَيْمِيِّ قَالَ

أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ مُحْتَبٍ بِبُرْدَةٍ لَهُ قَدْ تَنَاثَرَ هُدْبُهَا عَلَى قَدَمِهِ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَوْصِنِي قَالَ «اتَّقِ اللهَ وَلَا تَحْقِرَنَّ مِنَ الْمَعْرُوفِ شَيْئًا وَلَوْ أَنْ تُفْرِغَ مِنْ دَلْوِكَ فِي إِنَاءِ الْمُسْتَسْقِي وَلَوْ أَنْ تُكَلِّمَ أَخَاكَ وَوَجْهُكَ مُنْبَسِطٌ إِلَيْهِ وَإِيَّاكَ وَإِسْبَالَ الْإِزَارِ فَإِنَّ إِسْبَالَ الْإِزَارِ مِنَ الْمَخِيلَةِ وَإِنَّ اللهَ لَا يُحِبُّ الْمَخِيلَةَ»

✧ I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was sitting with his legs drawn up, wrapped in a burdah of his, the fringe of which had scattered over his foot. I said: O Messenger of Allah, advise me. He said: "Fear Allah, and do not belittle any act of kindness, even if it is that you pour from your bucket into the vessel of one asking for water, or that you speak to your brother with a cheerful face toward him. And beware of letting the izār hang low, for letting the izār hang low is from arrogance, and Allah does not love arrogance."
