أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا جَرِيرٌ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ التَّيْمِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ النَّهْدِيِّ قَالَ كُنَّا مَعَ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ فَجَاءَ كِتَابُ عُمَرَ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «لَا يَلْبَسُ الْحَرِيرَ إِلَّا مَنْ لَيْسَ لَهُ مِنْهُ فِي الْآخِرَةِ شَيْءٌ إِلَّا هَكَذَا» وَقَالَ أَبُو عُثْمَانَ بِإِصْبَعَيْهِ اللَّتَيْنِ تَلِيَانِ الْإِبْهَامَ فَرَأَيْتُهُمَا أَزْرَارَ الطَّيَالِسَةَ حَتَّى رَأَيْتُ الطَّيَالِسَةَ

Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "No one wears silk except one who will have no share of it in the Hereafter, except like this." Abu Uthman said, gesturing with the two fingers that are next to the thumb. I saw them as buttons on the cloaks until I saw the cloaks.
