✧ Prohibition of wearing revealing clothing

أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ فَضَالَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا شُعَيْبٌ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي سَالِمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ قَالَ

وَجَدَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ حُلَّةً مِنْ إِسْتَبْرَقٍ تُبَاعُ فِي السُّوقِ فَأَخَذَهَا فَأَتَى بِهَا النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ابْتَعْ هَذِهِ فَتَجَمَّلْ بِهَا لِلْعِيدِ وَلِلْوَفْدِ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «إِنَّمَا هَذِهِ لِبَاسُ مَنْ لَا خَلَاقَ لَهُ» فَلَبِثَ عُمَرُ مَا شَاءَ اللهُ أَنْ يَلْبَثَ ثُمَّ أَرْسَلَ إِلَيْهِ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ بِحُلَّةِ دِيبَاجٍ فَأَقْبَلَ بِهَا عُمَرُ حَتَّى أَتَى بِهَا النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قُلْتَ إِنَّمَا هَذِهِ لِبَاسُ مَنْ لَا خَلَاقَ لَهُ ثُمَّ أَرْسَلْتَ إِلَيَّ بِهَذِهِ الْجُبَّةِ فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «تَبِيعُهَا أَوْ تُصِيبُ بِهَا حَاجَتَكَ»

✧ Umar b. al-Khattab found a brocade garment being sold in the market, so he took it and brought it to the Prophet ﷺ. He said, "O Messenger of Allah, buy this and adorn yourself with it for the Eid and for the delegations." The Prophet ﷺ said, "This is only the clothing of one who has no share in the Hereafter." Umar waited as long as Allah willed, then the Prophet ﷺ sent him a silk brocade garment. Umar came with it to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, you said, 'This is only the clothing of one who has no share in the Hereafter,' and then you sent me this jubbah." The Prophet ﷺ said to him, "Sell it or fulfill your need with it."
