✧ The Difference in Wording of Narrators' Reports about b. Umar's Gold Ring

أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا الْمُعْتَمِرُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عُبَيْدَ اللهِ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ

اتَّخَذَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ خَاتَمًا مِنْ ذَهَبٍ وَجَعَلَ فَصَّهُ مِنْ قِبَلِ كَفِّهِ فَاتَّخَذَ النَّاسُ خَوَاتِيمَ الذَّهَبَ فَأَلْقَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ خَاتَمَهُ وَقَالَ «لَا أَلْبَسَهُ أَبَدًا» وَأَلْقَى النَّاسُ خَوَاتِيمَهُمْ

Translation

Chain of narrators

  5. Ibn ʿUmar

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ acquired a gold ring and turned its stone toward his palm. The people acquired gold rings, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ threw his ring away and said: “I will never wear it again,” and the people threw their rings away.
