أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ اصْطَنَعَ خَاتَمًا مِنْ ذَهَبٍ وَكَانَ يَلْبَسَهُ فَيَجْعَلُ فَصَّهُ فِي بَاطِنِ كَفِّهِ فَصَنَعَ النَّاسُ ثُمَّ إِنَّهُ جَلَسَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ فَنَزَعَهُ وَقَالَ «إِنِّي كُنْتُ أَلْبَسُ هَذَا الْخَاتَمَ وَأَجْعَلُ فَصَّهُ مِنْ دَاخِلٍ» فَرَمَى بِهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ «وَاللهِ لَا أَلْبَسَهُ أَبَدًا» فَنَبَذَ النَّاسُ خَوَاتِيمَهُمْ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ acquired a gold ring and used to wear it with its stone turned toward his palm. The people made rings. Then he sat on the pulpit, removed it, and said: “I used to wear this ring and turn its stone inward.” He threw it away and said: “By Allah, I will never wear it again.” So the people discarded their rings.
