✧ If a man cannot find what he spends on his wife, should he let his wife choose?

أَخْبَرَنِي عِمْرَانُ بْنُ بَكَّارٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ رَوْحٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُغِيرَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَجْلَانَ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «الْيَدُ الْعُلْيَا خَيْرٌ مِنَ الْيَدِ السُّفْلَى وَابْدَأْ بِمَنْ تَعُولُ» قَالَ زَيْدٌ فَسُئِلَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ مَنْ تَعُولُ يَا أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ؟ قَالَ امْرَأَتُكَ تَقُولُ أَنْفِقْ عَلَيَّ أَوْ طَلِّقْنِي وَعَبْدُكَ يَقُولُ «أَطْعِمْنِي وَاسْتَعْمِلْنِي» وَابْنُكَ يَقُولُ «إِلَى مَنْ تَذَرُنِي»

✧ From the Prophet ﷺ, he said: 'The upper hand is better than the lower hand, and begin with those you support.' Zaid said: 'Abu Hurairah was asked: Who do you support, O Abu Hurairah? He said: Your wife says: Spend on me or divorce me, your slave says: Feed me and employ me, and your son says: To whom do you leave me?'
