أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ أَوْسٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عُمَرَ قَالَ

كَانَتْ أَمْوَالُ بَنِي النَّضِيرِ مِمَّا أَفَاءَ اللهُ عَلَى رَسُولِهِ ﷺ مِمَّا لَمْ يُوجِفِ الْمُسْلِمُونَ عَلَيْهِ بِخَيْلٍ وَلَا رِكَابٍ فَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَعْزِلُ نَفَقَةَ أَهْلِهِ سَنَةً ثُمَّ يَجْعَلُ مَا بَقِيَ فِي الْكُرَاعِ وَالسِّلَاحِ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ

✧ The wealth of Banu al-Nadir was among that which Allah granted as fay’ to His Messenger ﷺ, which the Muslims had not spurred horses or camels for. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to set aside his family’s expenditure for a year, then put what remained into horses and weapons in the way of Allah.
