✧ The man's retirement from his wives

أَخْبَرَنَا يُوسُفُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرًا يَقُولُ اعْتَزَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ نِسَاءَهُ شَهْرًا فَخَرَجَ صَبَاحَ تِسْعَةٍ وَعِشْرِينَ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «إِنَّ الشَّهْرَ يَكُونُ تِسْعَةً وَعِشْرِينَ» ثُمَّ صَفَّقَ نَبِيُّ اللهِ ﷺ بِيَدَيْهِ ثَلَاثًا مَرَّتَيْنِ بِأَصَابِعِ يَدَيْهِ كُلِّهَا وَالثَّالِثَةَ بِالتِّسْعِ مِنْهَا

Translation

✧ He heard Jabir say: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ secluded himself from his wives for a month, and he came out on the morning of the twenty-ninth. The Prophet ﷺ said: 'Indeed the month may be twenty-nine days.' Then the Prophet of Allah ﷺ clapped his hands three times—twice with all the fingers of his hands, and the third time with nine of them."
