أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَامِرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيٌّ عَنْ يَحْيَى عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ سَلَامٍ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَامٍ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو ذَرٍّ قَالَ

كَأَنْ يَعْنِي النَّبِيَّ ﷺ «إِنَّ عَلَى كُلِّ نَفْسٍ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ طَلَعَتْ فِيهِ الشَّمْسُ صَدَقَةً مِنْهُ عَلَى نَفْسِهِ» قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ مِنْ أَيْنَ أَتَصَدَّقُ وَلَيْسَ لَنَا أَمْوَالٌ؟ قَالَ «أَوَلَيْسَ مِنْ أَبْوَابِ الصَّدَقَةِ التَّكْبِيرُ وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ وَسُبْحَانَ اللهِ وَتَسْتَغْفِرُ اللهَ وَتَأْمُرُ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَتَنْهَى عَنِ الْمُنْكَرِ وَتَعْزِلُ الشَّوْكَةَ عَنْ طَرِيقِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ وَالْعَظْمَ وَالْحَجَرَ وَتُهْدِي الْأَعْمَى وَتُدِلُّ الْمُسْتَدِلَّ عَلَى حَاجَةٍ لَهُ قَدْ عَلِمْتَ مَكَانَهَا وَتَرْفَعُ بِشِدَّةٍ ذِرَاعَيْكَ مَعَ الضَّعِيفِ كُلُّ ذَلِكَ مِنْ أَبْوَابِ الصَّدَقَةِ مِنْكَ عَلَى نَفْسِكَ وَلَكَ فِي جِمَاعِكَ زَوْجَتَكَ أَجْرٌ» قُلْتُ كَيْفَ يَكُونُ لِي الْأَجْرُ فِي شَهْوَتِي؟ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أَرَأَيْتَ لَوْ كَانَ لَكَ وَلَدٌ فَأَدْرَكَ وَرَجَوْتَ خَيْرَهُ ثُمَّ مَاتَ أَكُنْتَ تَحْتَسِبُهُ» قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ «فَأَنْتَ خَلَقْتَهُ؟» قَالَ بَلِ اللهُ خَلَقَهُ قَالَ «فَأَنْتَ هَدِيَّتُهُ؟» قَالَ بَلِ اللهُ هَدَاهُ قَالَ «فَأَنْتَ كُنْتَ تَرْزُقُهُ؟» قَالَ بَلِ اللهُ رَزَقَهُ قَالَ «كَذَلِكَ فَضَعْهُ فِي حَلَالِهِ وَجَنِّبْهُ حَرَامَهُ فَإِنْ شَاءَ اللهُ أَحْيَاهُ وَإِنْ شَاءَ أَمَاتَهُ وَلَكَ أَجْرٌ»

✧ As if he meant the Prophet ﷺ [who said]: “Upon every soul each day the sun rises, there is a charity due from him for himself.” I said, “O Messenger of Allah, from where should I give charity when we have no wealth?” He said, “Are not the gates of charity the takbir, the praise of Allah, the glorification of Allah, seeking Allah's forgiveness, commanding the right, forbidding the wrong, removing a thorn from the path of the Muslims, and a bone and a stone, guiding the blind, and directing the one seeking directions to a need of his whose place you know, and supporting the weak with the strength of your arms? All of that is charity from you for yourself. And in your intercourse with your wife there is a reward.” I said, “How can there be reward for me in my desire?” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Do you not see that if you had a child who reached maturity and you hoped for his good, then he died, would you seek reward for him?” He said, “Yes.” He said, “Did you create him?” He said, “Rather, Allah created him.” He said, “Did you guide him?” He said, “Rather, Allah guided him.” He said, “Did you provide for him?” He said, “Rather, Allah provided for him.” He said, “Thus, place it in what is lawful for you and avoid what is forbidden. If Allah wills, He will keep him alive, and if He wills, He will cause him to die, and you will have a reward.”
