أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ عَنْ ثَابِتٍ الْبُنَانِيِّ عَنْ سُمَيَّةَ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ
وَجَدَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَلَى صَفِيَّةَ فَقَالَتْ لِي «هَلْ لَكِ إِلَى أَنْ تُرْضِي رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ عَنِّي وَأَجْعَلُ لَكِ يَوْمِي؟» قُلْتُ نَعَمْ فَأَخَذْتُ خِمَارًا لَهَا مَصْبُوغًا بِزَعْفَرَانَ فَرَشَشْتُهُ بِالْمَاءِ ثُمَّ اخْتَمَرْتُ بِهِ فَدَخَلْتُ عَلَيْهِ فِي يَوْمِهَا فَجَلَسْتُ إِلَى جَنْبِهِ فَقَالَ إِلَيْكِ يَا عَائِشَةُ «فَلَيْسَ هَذَا بِيَوْمِكِ» فَقُلْتُ «فَضْلُ اللهِ يُؤْتِيَهُ مَنْ يَشَاءُ ثُمَّ أَخْبَرَتْهُ خَبَرِي»

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was displeased with Safiyyah. She said to me: 'Would you like to make the Messenger of Allah ﷺ pleased with me, and I will give you my day?' I said: 'Yes.' So I took a veil of hers dyed with saffron, sprinkled it with water, then put it on and entered upon him on her day, and sat beside him. He said: 'Away from you, 'A'ishah, for this is not your day.' I said: 'The bounty of Allah He gives to whom He wills.' Then I told him my story.
