أَخْبَرَنَا يُوسُفُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي عَطَاءٌ قَالَ
حَضَرْنَا مَعَ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ جِنَازَةَ مَيْمُونَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ بِسَرِفَ فَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ «هَذِهِ زَوْجُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَإِذَا رَفَعْتُمْ نَعْشَهَا فَلَا تُزَعْزِعُوهَا وَلَا تُزَلْزِلُوهَا وَارْفُقُوا فَإِنَّهُ كَانَ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ تِسْعٌ فَكَانَ يَقْسِمُ لِثَمَانٍ وَلَا يَقْسِمُ لِوَاحِدَةٍ»

✧ We attended with Ibn ‘Abbas the funeral of Maymunah, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, at Sarif. Ibn ‘Abbas said: “This is the wife of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. So when you lift her bier, do not shake her or jolt her, and be gentle. For the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had nine wives, and he used to allot for eight of them but did not allot for one.”
