أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الصَّفَارُ الْبَصْرِيُّ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بِشْرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا زَكَرِيَّا عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ عَنِ الْبَهِيِّ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ

مَا عَلِمْتُ حَتَّى دَخَلَتْ عَلَيَّ زَيْنَبُ بِغَيْرِ إِذْنٍ وَهِيَ غَضْبَى ثُمَّ قَالَتْ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ حَسْبُكَ إِذَا قَلَبَتْ لَكَ ابْنَةُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ذُرَيْعَتَيْهَا ثُمَّ أَقْبَلَتْ عَلَيَّ فَأَعْرَضْتُ عَنْهَا حَتَّى قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «دُونَكِ فَانْتَصِرِي فَأَقْبَلْتُ عَلَيْهَا حَتَّى رَأَيْتُهَا قَدْ يَبِسَتْ رِيقُهَا فِي فِيهَا مَا تَرُدُّ عَلَيَّ شَيْئًا فَرَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَتَهَلَّلُ وَجْهُهُ»

✧ She said: “I did not know until Zaynab entered upon me without permission, and she was angry. Then she said to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ: ‘It is enough for you when the daughter of Abu Bakr turns her two arms over for you.’ Then she turned to me, and I turned away from her, until the Prophet ﷺ said: ‘Go ahead and defend yourself.’ So I turned to her until I saw that her saliva had dried up in her mouth and she could not say anything back to me. And I saw the Prophet’s ﷺ face beaming.”
