أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ثَوْرُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَائِذٍ عَنْ مُجَاهِدِ بْنِ رَبَاحٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «أَلَا أُنَبِّئُكُمْ بِلَيْلَةٍ أَفْضَلَ مِنْ لَيْلَةِ الْقَدْرِ حَارِسٌ حَرَسَ فِي أَرْضِ خَوْفٍ لَعَلَّهُ لَا يَرْجِعُ إِلَى أَهْلِهِ» قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ «كَانَ يَحْيَى إِذَا حَدَّثَ بِهِ عَلَى رُءُوسِ الْمَلَأِ لَا يَرْفَعُهُ وَإِذَا حَدَّثَ بِهِ فِي خَلْوَتِهِ وَخَاصَّتِهِ رَفَعَهُ»

✧ From the Prophet ﷺ: "Shall I not tell you of a night better than the Night of Decree? A guard who keeps watch in a land of fear, perhaps he will not return to his family." Muhammad said: "Yahya, when he narrated this before a gathering, would not raise it to the Prophet, but when he narrated it in private or to his close companions, he would raise it."
